A Brief History of Judson Park
The
Judson Park Subdivision is located on the Northeast corner of Adams and Tienken Roads, in Avon Township, Oakland County, about
3 miles West of Rochester and about 7 miles Northeast of Pontiac.
Judson
Park consists of 171 lots occupying about 180 acres of land with more than 2 miles of roads. In late 1955, Mr. and Mrs. Judson,
with the assistance of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shepard, began developing Judson Park. Subdividing was done in four sections, Judson
Park, Judson Park No. 1, Judson Park No. 2 and Judson Park No. 3. The average lot in Judson Park is slightly under an acre,
however some of the lots in Judson Park No. 3 are as large as 4 acres.
In
September 1956 the Judson Park Association was organized and in January 1957, Mr. and Mrs. Judson deeded the 10 ½ acre recreation
area to the Judson Park Association. This beautifully wooded area is located in the north-central section of the Subdivision
and is being developed by the Judson Park Association for a picnic site and playground.
About
a mile south of Judson Park Subdivision at Adams Road and Walton Boulevard is the property of Oakland University. The beautiful
new University is steadily being expanded and is an asset to this community.
