Judson Park Homeowners’ Association
Minutes from the Board
Meeting
October 19, 2010
President Kathy Quail called the meeting to order by at 6:40 p.m. In attendance were
Jim Doherty (Vice President), Hess Bates (Treasurer) and Speedy Bates (Secretary).
Kathy announced that the minutes from the General Membership meeting held in the park
on September 16 were not available.
Hess Bates gave the Treasurer’s Report. Each Board Member received a copy of
the report and additional copies are available upon request by residents of Judson Park. Given that the Park is to be mowed
only every other week, it was discovered that we have been overcharged for lawn service. Hess will contact the company regarding
our over-payment. It was also suggested that we change lawn service companies for next year. We will investigate this possibility
before spring. Hess also has received two documents from the IRS asking for tax returns for the years of 2008 and 2009. He
will complete the forms, explaining that the Judson Park Homeowners’ Association is a non-profit group and that we do
not owe any taxes. The Treasurer’s Report was approved unanimously.
There was then discussion about it being time to cut down the weeds in the pond so
that we are ready for skating season. Sue Costew will be contacted by Jim Doherty
to arrange for the weed cutting. We will also have a park clean up this fall after all of the leaves are down.
Springtime will bring with it the opportunity for some repair work on the pavilion.
We will need new shingles, picnic tables will need to be refinished and general park maintenance will take place. We may also
need to replace the walking bridge in the park as well as consider obtaining woodchips to put on the pathways in the Park.
Board meetings will take place every other month and minutes will be provided on-line
at our website which is www.judsonpark.tripod.com.
Invoices will be prepared for mailing in February along with a newsletter. Kathy Quail
will contact Jenny Belanger who will prepare the newsletter for us.
Kathy would like to thank the following people for their participation in subdivision
activities this past year:
- Fall cleanup was chaired
by Suzette Costew in 2009. The fall cleanup was a great way to pitch in and have fun. The cider and donuts sure were good!
- The Easter Egg Hunt
was again a great success. Michele Temple has chaired this event for many years and each year gets even better!
- Mike Madigan did a
great job with the Subdivision Garage Sale.
- Kids’ Day was
a huge success. Jennifer Belanger put this on and did a fantastic job.
- Jazz in the Park:
we again enjoyed the Sheila Landis Trio who once again put on a wonderful concert.
Can’t wait for next year!
Jim Doherty mentioned that there is plenty of dead wood available in the park for firewood.
If interested, get in touch with a board member and he/she will be glad to open the park gate so that you can get a truck
in to load up.
Our next board meeting will be December 7 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at
Kathy Quail’s home at 2686 Tallahassee. All homeowners are invited to join us. We are always eager to have more of our
neighbors participate in The Judson Park Homeowners’ Association.
Meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
